Pada še en temelj dandanašnjih splošno sprejetih smernic – priporočila o uživanju uravnotežene in raznovrstne prehrane. Rezultati raziskave so pokazali, da je raznolikost prehrane povezana z nižjo kvaliteto prehrane ter posledično s slabšim zdravjem.

“An unexpected finding was that participants with greater diversity in their diets, as measured by dissimilarity, actually had worse diet quality. They were eating less healthy foods, such as fruits and vegetables, and more unhealthy foods, such as processed meats, desserts and soda. This may help explain the relationship between greater food dissimilarity and increased waist circumference.”

“Americans with the healthiest diets actually eat a relatively small range of healthy foods. These results suggest that in modern diets, eating ‘everything in moderation’ is actually worse than eating a smaller number of healthy foods.”

Raziskava seveda epidemiološka, tako da seveda ne potrjuje vzroka, ampak vseeno bi dejal, da če ljudem daš dovoljenje za uživanje packarije (tudi če samo med vrsticami), potem se ne znamo brzdati. Smo evolucijsko tako narejeni, pa še svinjarija je narejena z namenom ustvarjanja odvisnosti. Recept za dizastr. Tako da je treba jest hrano, ne izdelkov, četudi zgolj samo nekaj različnih vrst.
